Airplane Party Supplies
Airplanes have been capturing the imagination of young people ever since the Wright Brothers took their magical first flight in the early 1900s. In fact, kids and adults alike had fantasized about flight for many hundreds of years before that. But since man first made flight achievable, creating the beginning of a long list of heros of the air, airplanes have had a special place in the imagination of children. Whereas once airplanes were pretty much the toys that only boys played with, today more and more girls are turning to them as well. So, while an airplane party might be more likely to be held for a boy, girls sometimes enjoy them as well. In any event, holding an airplane party can be a lot of fun, and can certainly be made easy by the availability of airplane-themed party supplies, which are readily available.
Because airplanes are so widely loved, and are such a large part of the adult lives of many, there are many options for supplies for parties that are built around, so there is a lot of help available in the form of premade kits and individual items for the party.
The most basic kits will include Airplane-related invitations, dinner plates, cups, thank you postcards, forks, napkins, a tablecloth and spoons. They will also include ribbons, crepe paper, and balloons, and will run about $25. You can also get additional items to augment your supplies with an add-on kit, which include more invitations, thank you postcards, dinner plates, cups, forks, spoons and napkins, if your party will be for more kids than the original kit provides for. These typically run about $15. Other options exist beyond the basic kit. They include more items and cost more. A deluxe-type of kit, for example, will have everything in a basic kit has, plus, for example more balloons, or dinnerware or crepe paper and other items. A kit like this will cost around $40.
But there are even larger kits as well, and they will include things that come in the smaller kits, but plus things like party favors. These even larger kits will run you about $75. And there’s even more, including kits that come with CDs, wall decorations, cardboard cutouts, necklaces and other “jewelry,” games, a personalized birthday banner, and so on. These will typically cost between $150 to $300.
But bear in mind that while these kits are always available, and easy to find, you can also add your own touches, which can be a good way to make the event more personalized. And think about involving the kids in the process. They can often have great ideas, and almost always enjoy participating in parties for themselves.
To get the ball rolling, start with the list of invitees, so that you can have an idea of what your overall budget will be. With list and a budget in hand, you can start to think about how you want to do the invitations. Invitations can be made out of photos, or drawings of Airplane and various famous pilots like Charles Limburg, Amelia Earhart or the Red Baron. These can be downloaded from the web. You can also get little miniature airplanes to send along with the invitations.
There are certain details in invitations that are a good idea to include, irrespective of whether you buy or make the invitations themselves. The invitation details should include the name of the party giver, why the party is being held, and then things like the time range and date of the party, details about gifts, food and so on. Also, if you want invitees to RSVP, include all that information in the invitation as well.
Next, you want to think about how to turn the party space into a space that matches the theme. You can make an airplane hanger, or a cockpit. And you can hang images and photos around the space as well. If you plan an outdoor party around an Airplane theme, think about doing it near an open space that can be turned in to a landing strip. Again, think about engaging the child into this part of the party preparation.
At the party itself, think about how to integrate the theme in to all the various parts of a typical party. Some of the things to think about are plates, cups, silverware, table cloths. All of these items can be purchased with related themes on them. Next, think about activities for the party that relate to the theme.
Cakes can always be made to represent the theme as well. Your local cake maker can give you ideas, but cakes can be made for the party. Think about a having a cake made that looks like a single-engine plane or a fighter jet. After the cake portion, think about hanging an Airplane piñata. Kids can be blindfolded, given instructions from the “tower,” and then take off down the runway. At the end they are handed the stick to be used on the piñata.
There are other ways to hold the party as well. You can take the kids out to a field near an airport and watch the planes take off and land. You can also think about viewing a movie with an airplane theme. And you can think about renting a “pilot” to show up at the party and interact with the kids.
Many various party favors are widely available with the Airplane theme, including watches, key chains and t-shirts. This is just a short list. There is a wide variety of other options as well that are suitable for most any occasion.
And just because the party ends at a given time, doesn’t mean all the fun ends with it. After the party, it’s time to focus on sending out thank you cards, as this is a very important part of the whole event. You can buy thank you cards as part of a kit, or as separate items. You can also make your own.
