The peanuts, the hot dogs, the fresh air—baseball is a lifestyle for some young people, allowing them to build motor skills, math skills, and learn teamwork. Baseball as a sport is a great pastime, so a baseball party is the perfect celebration for any baseball fan’s birthday. If the weather outside is agreeable, a baseball party would be excellent to host outdoors. If it must be held indoors, there are still wonderful decorations that you can use. Check out the list below of some baseball party supplies that will save you from striking out on your child’s birthday.

Decorations
As you plan your party, keep the essence of baseball alive through your decorations.
• Tack paper baseball bats, balls, and gloves to the walls around the party area.
• Hang baseballs from the ceiling made from crepe paper strung from corner to corner (in your child’s favorite baseball team’s colors, of course) with fishing wire.
• Fill latex balloons with helium and write a name of a major player on each, then tie them to each of the children’s chairs.
• Set baseball-painted beach balls around the party area for the kids to play with.
• Use baseball-decorated tablecloths.
• Baseball-themed plates, napkins, and blowouts make great additions to any baseball party, and using red cutlery will enhance the effect.
• Fountain centerpieces work to tie the decorations together and are usually small enough to not block the children’s eyesight.
• Baseball cheer sticks are great noisemakers for the more rambunctious crowd.
• Double your decorations for your favors, by using plastic stadium cups instead of paper ones, hanging kid’s jersey’s on the walls for the children to take home afterward, or by providing a mix of baseball-themed songs on CD, that you play at the party.
• Use baseball pennants to hang from walls or off of tables. You can also use pennants as place mats for guests

Invitations
Creating the invitations is one of the most fun parts of planning a baseball party.
• You can cut them in the shape of a baseball and bat, mitt, or even a home plate.
• Use phrases that you would hear in a baseball game, such as, “Join [child’s name] as he hits his birthday out of the park!” or “It’s a home run birthday!” or “[Your child’s favorite player] wants YOU to come celebrate!”
• Make them yourself or even purchase pre-made ones at a local store or off of the Internet.
•If your child is a big fan of a MLB player, you may want to mention it in the invitation or purchase invitations from that baseball team. You can also use team stickers on the envelopes for additional hints to guests who may be wondering what kind of present to buy.
• Brainstorm, brainstorm, brainstorm before putting anything down on paper.

Food
No baseball game or baseball celebration would be complete without hot dogs. The easiest way to serve hot dogs to a large group is to set out a table buffet style with buns, hot dogs and any condiments that they may use. Pizza, nachos, and hot pretzels are also great to serve and are fairly simple to make. Peanuts, of course, could make an appearance at your party, but you should only serve them if there are no known allergies to them. Remember that you can use baseball mitts, baseballs and baseball sports logos as additional table decorations.

Cake
Mmm, the birthday cake. Your child’s baseball birthday cake can be made to look like:
• A baseball field, a baseball jersey, a bat and ball, a mitt and ball, etc.
• You also have the option of making separate little cakes for each guest. Little baseballs make perfect small cakes and can be carved out of any double-layer sheet cake or angel food cake. You can also make individual baseball-decorated cupcakes.
• Creating the cake in the shape of a baseball cap will allow you to fill it with different kinds of fillings.
• Make the cake an entire stadium, with the field, bleachers, and people. You can be sure it will be the highlight of the party!
•You can buy baseball cake decorations to use on a birthday cake or birthday cookie

Activities
You may not have a backyard that can support a game of baseball, but there are other fun activities to keep your sports enthusiast and guests happy.
• Party Supply stores sell baseball shaped piñatas.
• A baseball toss can be used as a variation to the traditional bean bag toss
•To play Home Run Derby, you will need a whiffed ball and bats. Draw a line that marks a home run in your yard. Batter swings at easy pitches. If the ball goes past the line, Home Run! If it doesn’t it’s an out. Three outs to an inning. How many innings is up to you.

Baseball party supplies also offer great baseball favor bags and inflatables. Some inflatables for sale include: baseballs, baseball trophies, baseball mitts and baseball bats. In addition to great décor, these make fun prizes to award for the winner of the party activities. They can also be used for some of the fun games. Favor bags can include chocolates in the shape of baseballs and baseball stickers. You can also find baseball shaped erasers, pencils and pens to fill the goody bags.

There are so many baseball party supplies available for your party that you may need to take your time planning which great things to buy. Once you have a guest list in place, you can start by calculating the number of baseball plates, napkins and cups that you will need. Check out the different decorating options that are available and see which will work out for the size of the party and your budget. Think about which kind of baseball cake you would like to have. Buy enough favor bags and baseball items to fill them. With a little bit of creativity and planning, your child’s baseball birthday party will be a huge success.
