Beach Party Supplies
The beach is inviting and warm, offers ample space for any sort of get together, and provides room for many different activities to take place at the same time. You get land and ocean together, sun, and cool breezes. In other words, the beach is the perfect place to host a birthday party. Whether she loves the water, the sand, the sun, or just the warm, open air, the beach is where your child wants her party to be. It may seem intimidating, trying to plan a beach party for a group of people, but take a deep breath and calm down. You can throw a great party if you know what beach party supplies to use. Use this list to help you decipher between what is hot, and what is not to keep your party from burning out.
1) Hot: Beach volleyball. Beach volleyball is unlike many other beach activities because it can involve a large group of people participating at the same time, while providing exercise, and all under that beautiful sun. Some beaches near your home may already have volleyball nets set up, ready for use, but if not, bring your own to set up a safe distance from the water and other beach visitors. Grab a ball, split the guests into two teams, and you have a bumping good time ahead of you. You can also play other games at the beach, including soccer and Frisbee. Plus, if you get toasty, you can always just run down to the water to cool off.
2) Hot: Large beach tents. The days of crowding under one little beach umbrella are long gone. Go to your local department store and you are bound to find a family-sized beach tent with open sides. This provides ample protection from the sun as well as enough space to stand, lounge, or serve food. Some tents include mosquito netting that falls down the sides so you can enjoy the breezy night air without the annoyance of bugs. If you are having a large number of people attend your party, these tents just might do the trick.
3) Hot: Beach bonfire. If you are lucky enough to live near an area that allows bonfires on or near the beach, a bonfire is a must for your beach party. Bring a shovel and some wood, depending on what is provided for bonfires (i.e. fire rings). If no ring is provided, dig a hole, throw the wood in and enjoy a warm, glowing fire to bring the party to a close at the end of the evening. It will be the highlight of the event.
4) Hot: Music on the beach. Be sure to pack a portable speaker system or iPod port that runs on batteries to play some jams while sunbathing or eating. You can create a playlist of fun songs for your little party guests to dance to while digging in the sand. Choose songs that are fun, popular, and easy-breezy to fit the scene. And don’t blast your speakers too much. Disturbing the neighboring beach-goers with loud music is a big no-no in beach land. Simply keep the volume loud enough to be heard within a few feet around the beach tent and you should be fine.
5) Hot: Popsicles. Yes, popsicles are hot—not literally, of course. Since it is so hot out in the sun and it would be a hassle trying to keep a large birthday cake safe from blowing sand and the heat, packing a lot of popsicles into a cooler with some dry ice is a great way to chill out and relax while enjoying the rhythms of the waves.
6) Hot: Sandcastle competitions. Have your guests compete in a sandcastle building competition on the beach! Provide each participant with a bucket and small sand shovel and let them go at it. Set an allotted amount of time and when the time is up, you will judge the castles and choose the winner!
7) Hot: Smoothies. If you thought jumping in the water would cool you down, just wait until you try fresh smoothies! After standing out in the hot sun, there is nothing quite sipping on an ice cold, refreshing smoothie on the beach. Ahh, relaxation. For this, you will need a battery-powered blender, a cooler, and smoothie ingredients.
8) Hot: Limbo! The limbo game is a favorite among beach-loving people and is great fun for kids of all ages, as well as adults! All you need is a long, straight stick (try an old broom handle), and some music! Slap on some jamming tunes and groove while bending backward under the Limbo stick! Everybody limbos!
9) Hot: Shell hunting. Beach shells are a fascination for almost all adults and are very much a key point of interest for young children. Start a scavenger hunt on the beach set on looking for shells of all kinds! You can make it a contest to see who can collect the highest number of a certain color shell, or you can simply send the troops out to see what they dig up. Either way, the children are bound to have a great time!
10) Hot: Rice Krispies. Rice Krispy treats are one of the hottest treats for the beach right now. So easy to make and deliciously filling, these sticky snacks will leave your birthday guests licking their fingers for more! All you will need is a large box of Rice Krispies, butter, and lots of marshmallows. The actual directions are available on the marshmallow package, but they are quick, easy, and delicious!
11) Hot: Kite Flying. Remember when you were a kid and flying a kite was one of the most spectacular and jaw-dropping activities you could be a part of? Why not pass that feeling of free flying to your child and her party guests? Kites are cheap nowadays and are fairly easy to find. Check your nearest department store to see if they are in stock. Kites are sure to be a huge hit at your beach party.
