Fathers Day Party Supplies
Father’s day began in 1910, and was dedicated to a dad who brought up his children alone, and a Father’s Day committee was formed in 1926. Father’s day is now as much of an institution as mother’s day. It is a great time of year to celebrate everything that your dad has ever done for you, and to let him know how much you love him. Most of the time, Father’s day is a time for dad to sit back and let everyone else run around after him – maybe let him fall asleep in front of the TV – but it is also a nice idea to throw him a party, to let him know how much he is appreciated.
Every father is different, and has different likes and dislikes: a great party idea is to theme the celebration around things that he enjoys doing, and buy father’s day party supplies to match that theme. For example if he enjoys watching football, or likes racing cars, then those things will be perfect for a party theme; alternatively, if he has young children, then it can be a good idea to let the children have a creative input on what the party will be about – you might be surprised. Another idea is to ask the man himself what he would like for his special day – he might just want a simple night out away from the children, or he might want a massive party with lots of chocolate cake and sweets – be sure to present both options to him, and see which one he would prefer!
Throwing a party for dad doesn’t mean that a lot of father’s day party supplies are necessary – it might be a good idea to rent a hall and maybe have a sport’s day – with lots of team games like basketball and hockey: be sure to invite everyone you know, and make up massive teams of opposing sides! Also remember not to get too competitive and maybe let dad win once in a while.
Another good idea is to find father’s day party supplies with a sports theme: buying football shaped platters and cups, banners, or centrepieces – a great centrepiece might be a goal post at each end, with a football balloon weight in between them – this should provide a great touch of humour to the party. Nascar again might provide plenty of banners, party items and tableware: a charming traffic light centrepiece, for example, can make all the difference; a nice idea might be to buy a silver or inflatable trophy, something that dad can keep afterwards to remind him of the party. These items should all be available from father’s day party supplies outlets, or online.
Something else that dad might enjoy is a BBQ themed party – there’s nothing a man enjoys more than setting fire to something and then cooking some meat on it. A themed party might involve parasols, aprons, things with fire on them, and of course, a BBQ. Fortunately father’s day is in June, so there should be no problem with holding the party outside. The host of the party might also enjoy putting up signs with “Happy father’s day” on, decorated with crowns – paper hats would be another good way of celebrating a BBQ day.
Another good idea for a theme is the Wild West theme party – this could have a costume stipulation: what fun to see all of your family and friends turning up in Ten Gallon Hats and big boots. Women guests might enjoy a flashing cowboy hat in pink, while men might like a LED cowboy hat- or they might prefer to just have a large sheriff’s badge on the front. Other accessories include bandana plates, or wild-west themed paper cups and plates; great ideas for the tough man in your life.
Something else for father’s day might be a patriotic “Proud to be American” party: a stars and stripes themed night should please any army men in the family, and of course a patriotic toast or two should bring tears to the eyes of any devoted American – plus a pack of confetti poppers to celebrate not only father’s day, but also the country of his birth.
There are not a lot of balloons available in father’s day party supplies sites: it might be necessary to shop around for something more interesting, such as the football related items mentioned earlier. However, there are plenty of father’s day party supplies packages, in all themes, from Western to nautical and anything in between – these shouldn’t cost the earth and they can provide the basis for a good party. Additional accessories will need to be bought with these, but that shouldn’t be too excessive in price once the basics are bought.
If the dad enjoys something a little more refined on his day off, then have a cheese-and-wine party, with a wine-tasting theme. There are plenty of themed plates available, plus wine glasses, balloons, and decorations....all that’s needed is some wine! This could be an ideal party for a man who doesn’t often get to relax and enjoy life – plus it’s also an excellent excuse to drink plenty of toasts to the man of the hour- dad!
Something interesting that might provide a talking point during the party is to encourage the children to create a jar in which they write down all the things that they love about their father – this can be opened during the party, and the messages read out – it can be a touching way to end a party.
Father’s day is a great way for the whole family to come together and celebrate their dad, and hosting a party is bound to flatter and somewhat embarrass the man of the hour. If there are several dads in the family – grandfathers, brothers and sons, then a party which invites everyone can be a really fantastic thing to see. Organising a party around a theme should ensure that nothing goes wrong – why should it – and that everyone enjoys themselves.
