Football Party SuppliesYou have probably been asked a thousand times to host some sort of football party for your little quarterback, and with so many football party supplies, now is the time to do it! From mini footballs to football cakes to jersey fever, your child’s football party is bound to be a hit with all the little fans of the neighborhood. Invitations Football-shaped invitations are a definite must-have for any football party. And it is ever so easy to create them. Simply take some brown construction or butcher paper, cut it in the shape of a football and paint laces on it. Use a thin paint brush and use white paint to make the laces. You can easily use a fine point, black permanent marker to write the party information on the back of it. You can also try making your card using a computer program designed for that very purpose. You can also have the card fold, either in half or in thirds. The words on the invitation should be exciting and reflect phrases said at football games or at practice—but keep them positive! Phrases such as, “It’s another touchdown birthday!” are encouraging, inviting, and fun. Another option you have is to try to find invitations at a local store. Your invitations can be anything you want, not just footballs. Your youngster’s team jersey, his favorite team’s jersey, a referee shirt, a goal post, etc. are all great ideas. Just about anything football will work for your invitations. And remember, if you are planning on receiving any gifts, you should get thank you notes as well as invitations, following the same design on both. Party Activities The party activities are where the children will have the most fun. They should be creative, fun, and energetic. Some examples are: • A touch football game. A short “football” game where only touches are used is a great way to get the kids involved in the party as well as burn some energy. • An obstacle course. This can be a fun activity for any child. Obstacles might be climbing a small slide and sliding down to riding a tricycle from one point to another to hula hooping a certain number of times to scooting in a laundry basket across the finish line. • A short scavenger hunt with little football drills between each hint. Football drills may range from jumping jacks to push ups to ladders. • A football throwing contest. Your party attendees can participate in a throwing contest in which each player throws a football as far as he can. Use a long stick or ruler to mark the farthest throws as they occur. If you want to award the winners, prizes can include a soft football, a football-decorated cup, or a jersey. • Find the football. If you have the space for this activity, you can place a football in an open area, have the first player see where it is, then blindfold him. After spinning him around a few times, point him in the direction of the ball and have his “teammates” guide him to it by giving him directions. A different version of this is to set a balloon up to be kicked (like a field goal), have the player see where the ball is, then after blindfolding him, turn him around 3 times and tell him to kick the ball. The winner is the player who makes contact with the ball, or if more than one player does, then whoever kicks it farther. Food Serve sports bar style food at your party, things that are easy, greasy, and delicious, such as: • Flavored chicken wings • Pizza • Hot dogs • Potato chips • Bean dip • Peanuts • Nachos • Brats • Italian sausage For drinks, you can serve items such as lemonade, fruit punch, and soda. Make sure to have plenty of condiments available for the food, including ketchup, mustard, pickle relish, barbeque sauce, honey mustard sauce, tomatoes, onions, cheese, and pepper and salt. You could even have stadium candy available from the “concession stand” if you want. Cupcakes with football decorations are a treat for any guest. Be creative and think “tasty” when brainstorming for food—and definitely think football! Cake Your party cake can be extremely creative if you get the idea down. Discuss with your child what he would like for a cake. You can have a regular cake or an ice cream cake, or even make little individual cakes for each guest. Little cakes can be anything from footballs to jerseys. Options for a whole can include a scoreboard, a football field with goalposts, a cleat, or even just a football. You can use simple sheet cakes as a base for any type of cake, carving your cake out of it or even leaving it whole, as you would if you were to make a football field. Favors Ah, the favors. The football party favors can be the highlight of your party. Think of things that each guest would like to bring home from a football game, like: • A real football • A t-shirt with the name of the guest written on the back like a jersey • A child’s jersey • A personal toy football • A plastic cup in the shape of a football with a straw • Packs of trading cards each child can play with and trade • Football stickers • Little trophies. Anything “football” goes at a football party, so use your imagination, be creative, and enjoy planning your party using these football party supplies and you’ll surely score a touchdown! |
