Valentines Day Party Supplies
Look out for that arrow! That pesky Cupid is out and about again, looking for two people to prick with his arrows! It’s Valentine’s season and he’ll let you know it! From sweet treats to nice hellos to special little surprises, the Valentine’s season is filled with love, love, and more love! Everywhere you look there are stock piles full of Valentine’s party supplies, so why not throw your friends a little Valentine’s party?
Heart candies, cherry pie, hot chocolate—doesn’t that all seem divine? You can choose these and many more Valentine’s Day treats for your party. Your options are endless when it comes to decorations, invitations, food, treats, and more. You might even get a little too carried away with your party, finding so many ideas and items to use! Of course, the more creative the better, when it comes to parties, so use that left side of your brain to come up with some really cute details!
Lovable Invites
When it comes to your invitations to your Valentine’s Day party, you have a plethora of options, ranging from hearts, to hearts with arrows, to cupid cards, to witty rhymes. Brainstorm to try a few different ideas for your invitations.
You can use a computer program to print out your invites in a jiffy. There are many different programs available, some of which may already be on your computer. These programs are easy to use and will take you through each step of the creative process. All you need to know is what you want your invitations to look like.
Try to come up with something witty to say to invite people to your party, such as, “I’ve trapped Cupid!” or “Come help me celebrate the most miserable day of the year.” Things like that that will get your guests laughing and intrigued to come to the party. Or if you want to go a more cheesy route, make sure you are overly cheesy, as most Valentine’s Day details are.
You can put Valentine’s Day confetti in your invites, like little hearts. If you want to decorate the envelope yourself, you can use glitter and Valentine’s stickers to do so. Use your imagination to make your invitations fun and exciting!
Sweet Treats
From cookies to cakes, your options as far as party treats go are endless. Chocolate chip cookies are always a classic favorite, along with gumdrop cookies, chocolate cupcakes with pink and white sprinkles, and cherry pie. Strawberry cheesecake will certainly delight your guests or you can indulge their chocolate desire with warm, fudge-filled brownies. If you are really feeling sweet, you can give them brownie sundaes, consisting of a large, hot, fudge-filled brownie, topped with ice cream, whipped cream, chocolate sauce, and a cherry—but be warned, this dessert is not for the faint of heart.
A cool activity you can provide is cooking decorating. Have large sugar cookies prepared for the party. Then, let the guests decorate their own Valentine’s Day cookies with frosting, sprinkles, and icing to write on them. It will be fun and yummy at the same time!
Another take on that same idea is to have your guests each decorate a small, personal cake. These cakes can be any flavor and filled with any filling. You can even have the mixing and baking be part of the party. Good flavors to provide are chocolate and white cake mix, chocolate fudge or strawberry filling, chocolate chips, and strawberries.
Activities
Valentine’s Day parties open up an entirely new world of party activities for a group of people. Here are some options you can consider when planning out your party activities:
• Make paper hearts and give them as Valentines. All you need is paper, scissors, and decorating materials like stickers and markers, and you have yourself an evening filled with friendship.
• Play Valentine’s musical chairs. It is the same as regular musical chairs, but instead of each person finding her own chair, there needs to be two people to each chair (like a couple).
• Tell best first date stories. Self explanatory party game that usually ends in “awes.”
• Tell worst first date stories. Same game—different reaction. These are usually funny or awkward stories that when told, result in uproarious laughter and general merriment.
• Valentine’s Day costume contest. Each participant will need to dress in the essence of Valentine’s Day. The winner of the contest will win a prize, maybe a dinner for two at a local restaurant.
The more creative your activities are, the more fun your guests will have. Let go and be imaginative!
Decorations
It’s time to really let your creative side fly! Tack paper hearts to your walls, tape silver string streamers to your doorways, and let white, pink, and red helium balloons sit around your ceiling. Crepe paper streamers will make any stair banister shine while Valentine-styled tablecloths and place settings will make your theme glow. You can buy a fountain centerpiece with silver streamers and wire hearts sticking out of its sides. Placing this on a bed of heart confetti and paper heart cutouts will make your table stand out.
Instead of regular pot holders to sit your hot food plates on, look for heart-shaped pot holders, in either red or pink. Festive pot holders will go great with your table decorations. Another way to add a little pizzazz to your party is to offer Valentine’s Day decorated drinking glasses. Plastic stemware that you either decorate yourself or purchase pre-decorated is fun to drink out of for anyone.
But what to put in the cups? Love Potion, of course! Fill a punch bowl with pink lemonade or any kind of punch to serve as the lovely liquid. Guests will wonder if there really isn’t something slipped in.
